Anne Frank Part 6: Liberation of Bergen-Belsen

Due to the chaotic conditions of the concentration camps, and the mass killings throughout Nazi Germany, it is unclear as to how Anne and Margot Frank ultimately died. Around the approximate time of her death, there was an outbreak of typhus at Bergen-Belsen, killing 17,000 prisoners. It was transported through the camp by infected lice that lived in the bedding and clothes of the prisoners. After Bergen-Belsen was liberated by the British 11th Armored Division in 1945, the camp was burned to the ground to halt further spread of the disease. Anne Frank is said to have died mere days before the camp was liberated, ravaged by disease, and having no will to live without the rest of her family.
